Important: which products this applies to
These warranty terms apply only to the JCB Power Tools UK Professional Range (also referred to as the JCB Pro Power Tools range).
You can usually identify the Professional/Pro range by:
- the sub-branding “Professional”, and
- a colour scheme that is typically more black than yellow.
These terms do not apply to:
- the standard JCB Power Tools range, or
- other JCB categories such as petrol-powered equipment, jacks, storage, and similar non-professional power tool categories.
If you are unsure which warranty applies to your product, please contact us using the details at the end of this page.
Limited Warranty (JCB Pro Power Tools UK Professional Range)
1) Introduction and scope
This Limited Warranty (the “Warranty”) is provided by Genpower Ltd (JCB Tools) (“we”, “us”, “our”) for the JCB Pro / UK Professional Range of power tools, batteries and chargers (each a “Product”).
This Warranty applies only to new Products:
- purchased in the United Kingdom, and
- purchased from us directly (The Power Site / Power Spares) or an authorised JCB Tools reseller.
This Warranty is in addition to your statutory rights under UK consumer law (including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). Your statutory rights remain fully enforceable regardless of this Warranty.
2) Warranty periods
- JCB Pro Power Tools: 3-year limited warranty from the original date of purchase
- JCB Pro Batteries & Chargers: 2-year limited warranty from the original date of purchase
- Hire use: any Product used for hire is covered for 90 days only
The warranty period starts on the purchase date and does not restart after a repair or replacement.
3) Warranty registration
Your warranty starts automatically from the purchase date. Registration is not required for the standard warranty.
We may introduce registration requirements only for any future extended warranty offers beyond the standard terms above.
4) What the Warranty covers
This Warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship that:
- were present at the time of purchase, or
- arise during the warranty period,
provided the Product is used under normal use conditions, meaning in accordance with the instruction manual and intended applications.
If a covered defect is confirmed, we will, at our discretion:
- repair the Product, or
- replace it with a new or reconditioned Product of equal or higher specification (which may be a later model).
5) What the Warranty does not cover (exclusions)
This Warranty does not cover issues caused by (this list is not exhaustive):
Fair wear and tear / consumables
Normal wear from use over time, including (but not limited to) items such as carbon brushes, bearings, chucks, SDS attachments, cords, auxiliary handles, sanding plates, dust bags, filters, seals, O-rings, and other service items/consumables.
Accidental damage
Drops, impacts, crushing, liquid damage, or other external events.
Misuse or improper operation
- Use contrary to the instruction manual or warnings
- Overloading beyond capacity or intended use
- Incorrect power supply (incorrect voltage, frequency, amperage)
- Use of non-approved accessories/parts/consumables
- Use of non-genuine third-party batteries or chargers not supplied by JCB Tools or an authorised reseller
Improper maintenance, repairs or servicing
- Lack of maintenance or incorrect maintenance
- Repairs performed by an unauthorised repair agent (this may void the Warranty)
Alterations or modifications
Products that have been altered, modified, adapted or dismantled without prior written authorisation.
Defaced/removed identification
If serial numbers, date codes, trademarks or identification markings are removed or altered.
External influences
Damage from water, chemicals, foreign substances, or extreme physical shocks beyond normal operational use.
Non-compliant items
Use of accessories/attachments (including batteries/chargers) that are not compliant for use within the UK, where this causes damage.
Second-hand purchases
This Warranty applies to Products purchased new only. It does not cover used, second-hand, rebuilt or reconditioned purchases.
Accessories
Accessories (for example drill bits, blades, sanding paper, and cases not supplied as standard) are not covered.
Minor deviations
Small cosmetic or minor deviations that do not materially affect the Product’s value or function.
6) How to make a warranty claim
Please contact us first (details below). We will:
- try to diagnose the issue and provide troubleshooting support, and
- if needed, arrange inspection/testing either by return to us or via a local service agent (at our discretion).
To process a claim, we will require:
- proof of purchase
- the Product serial number and/or batch/date code (tool, battery and/or charger as applicable)
Packaging and safety
- You are responsible for packaging the Product safely and securely (original packaging is recommended).
- Where a tool uses fuel or lubricant, these must be fully drained before return. Failure to do so may invalidate the Warranty and carriers may refuse collection/delivery.
7) Collection, carriage and costs
If the issue is confirmed as a warranty-covered failure, we will cover collection and re-delivery for UK mainland locations.
For Highlands/Islands, we may request a contribution towards carriage costs.
If the issue is confirmed as not covered (for example due to exclusions above), then transportation, handling, workshop time, labour and parts costs may be charged to you.
Channel Islands
It is usually more cost-effective for customers to send the unit to a mainland address; we can then collect and return to that mainland address as normal.
8) Remedies: repair or replacement
If a covered defect is confirmed, we will repair or replace the Product at our discretion.
Any Product or parts replaced under this Warranty become the property of JCB Tools (Genpower Ltd).
A repair or replacement under this Warranty:
- does not extend or renew the original warranty period, and
- does not entitle the customer to a loan tool during the repair process.
This Warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser.
9) Other important notes
- Statutory rights: This Warranty does not affect your statutory rights.
- Governing law: England and Wales.
- Changes to terms: We may update these Warranty terms from time to time. The most current version will be published on our website, or you can request a copy by contacting us.
