The Manufacturer’s Warranty

This page summarises the manufacturer warranty support provided in the UK by Genpower Ltd for eligible products purchased from The Power Site and Power Spares. It explains typical warranty periods, how to make a claim, and what is and isn’t covered.

This warranty is provided in addition to your statutory rights.

Warranty periods by product type

JCB Tools

  • Lifetime warranty on JCB Heritage Tools, JCB Contractor Tools and JCB Agriculture Tools
Excludes fair wear and tear, misuse, and over-stressing. “Lifetime” means for the practical lifetime of the product for the original purchaser and is not transferable.

Portable power products

  • 3 year warranty on most portable power products, except those listed below.
  • 2 year warranty on:
    • Air Compressors
    • Welders
    • Robotic Lawnmowers
    • Power Stations
    • Jump Starters
  • 1500rpm diesel generators: 2 year warranty, subject to:
    • service records (where applicable), and
    • a maximum of 500 hours per year
(See the separate generator warranty terms where provided.)
  • 3000rpm air-cooled diesel products: 1 year warranty, subject to a maximum of 1,000 hours.
  • Hot pressure washers: 1 year warranty.
  • Inverter generators and petrol open-frame generators: 3 year warranty, limited to a maximum of 1,000 hours (whichever occurs first).
  • Products “Powered by a Hyundai engine” (for example the P1 Power Equipment series): 2 year warranty.

Important: Some products/components may have different coverage (for example certain service/wear parts). If two warranty statements appear to apply, the more specific product/category rule takes priority.

What the warranty covers

For the applicable warranty period, products are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship from the original date of purchase. If a defect is confirmed, Genpower Ltd will, at its discretion:

  • repair the product, or
  • replace the product or defective component with a like-for-like item, or
  • offer another appropriate remedy.

What we need to process a warranty claim

To raise a claim, please provide:

  • model number
  • serial number
  • proof of purchase
  • service records (where applicable, especially for certain generator warranties)

Residential / non-commercial use

For residential/non-commercial use, the product is covered for the full stated warranty period and typically includes parts, labour and carriage from the date of purchase (subject to the exclusions and postcode notes below).

Commercial / hire use

  • Commercial use: warranty is 1 year
  • Hire use: warranty is 90 days
This typically includes parts, labour and carriage from the date of purchase (subject to exclusions and postcode notes below).

Policy notes

  • Warranty runs from the date of purchase and does not restart after repair or replacement.
  • Warranties are not transferable.
  • The warranty is only valid where the product has received preventative maintenance and servicing in accordance with the manufacturer’s documentation, including recommended oils/consumables where applicable.
  • Where hour limits apply, accurate usage records may be required.

If you suspect a fault

Please contact Genpower Ltd and our aftersales team will guide you through basic diagnostics. If the issue cannot be resolved remotely, we may request the unit is returned for inspection/testing.

Transit, collection and return of goods

Within the warranty period, Genpower Ltd can arrange collection where required.

If the fault is confirmed as a valid warranty issue:

  • collection, repair and return are typically free of charge
  • deliveries/collections to some extended postcodes (for example Highlands/Islands) may require a customer contribution towards carriage

If the fault is not covered (for example due to misuse, lack of maintenance, or non-warranty causes):

  • the customer may be responsible for transportation and handling, and
  • workshop labour/diagnostic charges may apply
Extended postcode collections/returns may include a surcharge.

Customer responsibilities before shipping/collection:

  • Drain all fuel and oil (where safe and applicable)
  • Package the unit securely (original packaging is recommended where available)

We accept responsibility for the unit once it has been received and inspected at our repair centre.

Channel Islands note: it is often more cost effective for customers to send the unit to a mainland address; we can then collect/return to that mainland address in the usual way.

Inspection and repair

  • Genpower Ltd will repair or replace (like-for-like) the product or failed component(s) that have failed within the warranty period, at our discretion.
  • If any costs are outside warranty, we will advise you before proceeding.

Parts-only warranty requests

In some cases, customers may request warranty parts to be dispatched.

  • We may accept clear photographic evidence where it demonstrates a manufacturing defect.
  • If inspection is needed, the failed part may need to be returned before a replacement is issued.

Warranty limitations and exclusions

The warranty does not cover (guidance list; other exclusions may apply):

  • Fair wear and tear, and misuse
  • Damage from lack of maintenance (as described in the user manual)
  • Accidental damage, impact damage, improper installation, or improper storage
  • Water ingestion, submersion, or external water damage
  • Frost damage or overheating due to excessive ambient temperatures or lack of ventilation
  • Marine/environmental corrosion damage
  • Operation under incorrect conditions/pressures, unauthorised modifications, or external wiring changes
  • Overloading (all machines) or under-loading (generators)
  • Fuel-related problems (contaminated/stale fuel, wrong fuel type, incorrect fuel/oil mixture)
  • Repairs or work carried out during the warranty period without prior approval from Genpower Ltd
  • Transit damage not reported within 24 hours of delivery (to allow carrier claims)

Shorter-cover items (even if the product warranty is longer)

  • Certain service items (examples include spark plugs, gaskets, filters, recoil units, cables, hoses, lances, trigger guns, seals, pump valves, AVRs, 12V batteries, key fob batteries) are typically covered for 1 year, subject to fair wear and tear.
  • Wearing items (examples include belts, brushes, bearings, blades, trimmer heads, chains, bars, wheels/tyres) are typically covered for 90 days.

Specific component notes

  • Inverter/circuit boards and transformers on welders and inverter generators: 2 year component coverage. Damage from overloading is not covered.
  • Welder damage caused by dust/grit ingress may void warranty.
  • Lithium-ion batteries and chargers: covered in line with the applicable product warranty, and may be subject to fair wear/usage limitations depending on product type.

UK distribution limitation

This warranty is valid for goods distributed in the UK by Genpower Ltd. Where a product is located outside the UK, warranty support is typically limited to transport to/from a UK address.

Returns, cancellations and change of mind

Change-of-mind returns are handled under our Returns Policy and consumer law. In general:

  • You must notify us within 14 days of receiving the goods if you wish to cancel a distance purchase (where consumer cancellation rights apply).
  • Items should be returned in a resalable condition, with all accessories and packaging where possible.
  • You may be responsible for return shipping costs, especially for large/heavy items (e.g., 70kg+).
  • Where permitted, we may make a deduction for any loss in value caused by handling beyond what’s necessary to inspect the goods, and/or direct costs incurred (for example carriage/repackaging).

If you need to cancel an order before dispatch, contact us as soon as possible. Once orders have been picked/loaded or dispatched, courier charges may apply and refunds may not be processed until returned items are received.

Faults in the first 30 days

If a product develops a fault within 30 days, we will offer a repair, replacement or refund in line with your statutory rights and the results of inspection/testing. If we replace a product, we may require up to 14 working days to inspect the original unit. If no fault is found, the original unit may be returned and carriage may be chargeable. Misuse-related damage is not covered.

During peak periods, timeframes may be extended.

Warranty updates

We may update these warranty terms from time to time. Any changes will not affect warranty rights for products already purchased.
