Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Could I got a bump feed head to this machine
A. After extensive testing of both the bump feed trimmer head and the ratchet 2 line trimmer head, we chose to go with the 2 line trimmer head. Generally we found the user was more productive and stopped less with this head. Line changes were quicker and the line was trouble free when in use with less breakages and more up time. The problem we had with the bump feed spool, is that because it is designed to work with 2.5mm trimmer line, the longer length of line used in the wheeled trimmer often caused the line to break at the exit of the spool. We also found that with the wheeled trimmer, the bump feed mechanism was hitting the ground often and feeding out more line when not required. Also, because there is no blade to cut off any over length line, this caused a problem. We tried 3m line in the spool, but this often jammed in the exit holes and was difficult to refill. The 2 line ratchet trimmer head, is designed for use with wheeled trimmers and generally does a very good job. You will need a pliers to remove the old line if it breaks off right by the exit hole. It is advisable to carry a bunch of 270mm x 3mm trimmer lines and a pliers with you when using this machine.
Q. Does it cut thick brambles ?
A. The product description does state that it cuts through brambles - however it may be better to invest in a HYMT5080 with a cutting blade which will cut through most foliage. HYMT5080 - http://thepowersite.co.uk/hyundai-hymt5080-51cc-petrol-multi-tool
Q. Can I use a blade on this trimmer?
A. Unfortunately, due to safety reasons, CE compliance is only given for use of nylon heads. Therefore, the would not be an adaptor you could buy that would enable this to be fitted with a steel blade. The nature of the wheeled trimmer is that you are pushing it away from you, and there is a possibility that you can rear it up, which is dangerous to others around you, and therefore you cannot get CE certification for this.
Q. How easy is it to start?
A. The 50.8cc engine has a soft recoil start function that makes it very easy to pull start.
Q. How much power does the engine produce?
A. The new 50.8cc engine produces 1800w of power with increased mid range torque.
Q. How long will it run on a full tank of fuel/oil mix?
A. The new 50.8cc engine found on the HYWT5080 will run for an hour on 800ml of fuel.
Q. What is the fuel/oil mixing ratio?
A. For the first time ONLY, a mixing ratio of 25:1 should be used to lubricate all engine parts to an optimum level. Thereafter the mix is 40:1. Be sure to only use fresh unleaded fuel and 2-stroke engine oil mixture
