Reliable Diesel Generator
The DHY6000SE from Hyundai is one of the most popular standby diesel generators in the UK. The compact design, low noise and powerful output makes this an ideal source of power for your home, business or field repairs. An entry level generator, the DHY6000SE offers incredible value for money and low running costs, with impressive fuel economy and the option to run it using red diesel.
Powered By Hyundai
The DHY6000SE is powered by a 10hp D420 diesel engine, running at 3000rpm, and produces a maximum output of 5.2kW / 6.5kVa.
The large 16L fuel tank provides an impressive maximum running time of 16 hours, with this generator cosuming merely 1 litre of diesel every hour, depending on the usage.
It’s equipped with an AVR alternator which produces a clean and stable power supply, making it perfectly safe to use with sensitive electronic appliances.
A Quiet and Portable Diesel Generator
The generator has a sound attenuated canopy to reduce the overall noise levels and is fitted with wheels and handles for easy movement.
Hyundai have designed this diesel generator to be incredibly user friendly, with electric key start as well as a convenient built-in digital control panel which displays the voltage, frequency and total hours run.
There are three sockets in total:
- 1x 115V/16A
- 1x 115v/32A
- 1x 230v/32A
The generator is also built with safety features, such as low oil shutdown and automatic engine shutdown.
The DHY6000SE can be configured to work with an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), which will detect a loss of power from the mains, turn the generator on, and then turn it off again when power from the mains returns. ATS system sold separately.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is the blue connection 32 Amp?
A. Yes, the blue is 32A, and there is a 32A and a 16A 115v also.
Q. Are there glow plugs on this generator?
A. No, but there is a pre-heater button on the generator fascia which in cold weather allows you to warm up the air in the inlet manifold, which helps the engine start easier and run smoother.
Q. It it just a standby or can it run all day?
A. It is just a standby generator. Due to the engine which runs at 3000rpm, it's not conducive for daily or what might be considered 'commercial' application. The nature of a generator like this is that, during a powercut, and even in a prolonged outage, this generator will work without any issues, with the only stoppage needed being a break for refueling. In fact, in December 2013, during the power cuts over the Christmas period, many of our customers who had this generator found that they needed to run this generator from anywhere between 4-7 days just by topping it up every now and again. The generator can cope with prolonged periods of running when needed, but it will require an extended rest period after this. The idea of using it for home and small business backup will mean that once the power is back on, it is stored well and maintenance carried out as and when needed. Using it all day every day is not recommended, however it can and will perform for you to keep the lights on when the power goes out
